Yea here are some tips surviving high school:
Relax: everything will work out by itself so don’t try too hard to make friends
Be ur self: it works! So use ur best traits u got to make friends
And…
Bring something to listen to! Like an CD player or mp3 player to drown out the stupid people in ur school
I moved right before high school, though I have no friends, so I may not be the best person to take advice from.
Try to be sociable (which I’m not sure is spelt right) at school, talk to people. That’s all the advice I have.
i was so nervous about highschool, but not anymore because everyone is really nice. Since you will be a freshman right? everyone else will be too. So their feelings are similar to yours. Just be friendly
Hey i have done that before, one of the tips is when a group of ppl ecept u dont talk crap on the other groups becasue thats what happened to me they talked crap on the other group and i in the end ended up being friends with them cuz i didnt talk crap. with the clothes thing just dress causal the first day to see what everyone else is wearing!!! Like cute jeans and a shirt…
I moved three times when I was in the 9th grade, so I feel your pain. Here is what I wish I had known from the beginning:
Be yourself, be yourself, be yourself. Be kind, honest, and compassionate. Never have an ugly thing to say about anyone, EVER. Do not gossip, do not listen to gossip. Join lots of different activities, even if you’re not sure they’re cool – you’ll be surprised at how much a well-rounded, genuine individual is liked and admired. Introduce yourself to people sitting next to you in class. I know it’s difficult, but confidence attracts other people to you as well. They’re probably just as scared and nervous about the first day of school as you are. Give genuine compliments when they are warranted. Listen when people talk – don’t interrupt or wait for them to finish so you can add some point of your own. Go to sporting events. Participate in some kind of school activity, like a sport or student government. Smile when you make eye contact with people in the hall, whether you know them or not. If you’re worried about what clothes to wear, I would suggest you talk with your old friends about what they plan to wear the first week and go from there. Don’t spend a lot of money on new clothes until you see what is sylish at your new school. Good luck!
The first thing is to be yourself.
I moved from a small school in Germany (about 50 people) to a large school in the US (about 1,300) during 10th grade. It was hard to get accostomed to the new school, but think of it this way. You will be surrounded by other people your age who are also brand new to the school. Take your first year to get comfortable, then join different activities. If you like sports then participate (choir and theatre are also great ways to meet people and make friends.)
During the summer, get out and do things- ride bikes or rollerblading, taking walks, go to the mall, just get comfortable in your new community. You will meet people who are more than likely to go to your school in the fall. On top of it all- be friendly. There is a proverb, “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly.”
that sounds like my story.
word for word.
i was totally new when i entered high school
i wouldnt suggest ‘be yourself’.. if urself is not someone.. well, social and pretty.
because i tried ‘being myself’ the first few months.. it didnt work. u need to look nice, act smart, do not put people down…
i recommend making one friend right off the bat who u can talk to no matter waht… i was lucky and found another new girl :]
we helped each other.. and now, we have a ‘group’!
its nice to have friends :]
also, join a club or sport! i made sooo many friends that way. and join a drama class. those are the best for meeting new people :]]
p.s- buy nice clothes. they help A LOT.
