My head gets warm and I get a headache after about 10-15 minutes of reading like this. will this go away with more reading at this speed or is speed reading just not practical?
It feels like my brain in sprinting to absorb the information and just burns out quickly. Is it normal to have to take breaks every 15 minutes when speed reading?

Slow down, having to take breaks that often is reducing your average a lot and also you are limited in how much you will actually take in at 600wpm, whereas if you read at 300wpm you wouldn’t need breaks and you’d understand more of what you read, keeping your long-term average at probably about the same, but getting more out of it.
You sound like that patient who goes to the Doctor and says, “Hey Doc, it hurts when I do this,” and then the Doctor says, “Well then don’t do that!”
You shouldn’t be speed reading at all. Speed reading is a gimmick. It is also bad for long term retention.
I know speed reading and I can read at around 600 wpm too. I’ve been reading at this speed for a year already, but I don’t have headache or other problems… Do you push yourself hard in order to read at such speed? And do you follow some formal course on speed reading?
You may try some speed reading test like this one, to check your reading speed and see if there is any further advice:

Hope this helps.
It would be normal to take breaks every 45 minutes when reading and there is no difference in it if you are speed reading or reading at slow pace.
The problem should be in something else. Is the place where you are reading properly lit? Is there enough fresh aim? Is there any disturbing noise? Is your eyesight OK?
