Succeeding in college, study skills, work habits and time management?

i m horrible at all of that! what can i do so i dont goof off when i have to study, i mean i am a smart kid, i just dont have the drive or the structure! help! im drowning in the pressure!

Yeah, I breezed through high school and made excellant grades. But in college, you HAVE to develop study skills. Some colleges offer a freshman class to teach you how to adapt to college, study skills, test taking skills, etc. Look for that. If not, try forming a study group… have someone quiz you…flashcards…anything. Just dont try to cram, because after about 1-2 hours… your mind wanders and you absorb 40% less information. Take breaks…dont wait til the last minute. Try to listen and learn everyday.
I have one professor who likes to do major tests over a ton of chapters. It was hard for me trying to retain all that info… but my study skills didnt help. Instead of trying to study a day or two before nonstop…I learned it didnt work. Best thing to do is pay attention, try to break the chapters down…and then get quizzed by a friend. Works well!
