I would like to receive better grades, but have a hard time staying focused on studying and have bad ADD. If you know of anything that might make studying easier or any habits that I should practice, please let me know! Thanks.

here’s some of my studying habits that i think are helpful:
1. memorize or be able to recite ur notes, or at least the important parts
2. if it’s something like math then redothe questions over and over again until after u start to get really sick of it
3. read the txtbook! note little details
4. teacher’s notes are more important than the book
5. sparknotes.com helps for english classes
6. pay attention in class, ask questions even if ur a shy person; most ppl don’t take advantage of this so if u question wat u don’t understand u have a better chance of scoring better than them and getting the curve. realize that ur paying lots of money for that class so take the advantage
7. remember that hardwork pays off =]

For students with ADD, the first thing you need to examine is the location you are working in. You want to be in a quiet, not distracting environment that you feel comfortable in. After that, here are some suggestions to help with study skills:

1. Time Management – especially in upper high school or college this tool will become essential. Block out each day with your schedule and what classes you will need to be working on during your time frame for studying.
2. Take out distractions – don’t go on the internet unless it is absolutely necessary to complete your homework
3. Learn how to take notes – this does not mean coping down everything in the book, but rather learning to selectively edit what you need. I would recommend looking at a paragraph and summarizing it into ONE sentence with only the main points.
4. Pay attention in class and learn that it is okay to stay after school and ask your teacher for extra help. Teachers love this and it might help boost your “participation” grade points.

I hope this helps! I think the biggest thing is to recognize when you need help and not being afraid to ask for it.
